For the first time since the 1970s, there's a glimmer of hope that Iran might be willing to play ball. In fact, the recent deal to release hostages has been greenlighted by their biggest foe, Benjamin N.

This is the tip of the iceberg. Zeihan explains that Iran's oil market (China and such) has been messed up as the Russians dump their oil there (because of Ukraine). Ergo Iran is broke.

The US is basically saying, if you'll throttle back your nuclear program and stop funding terrorists we'll release billions of assets we've frozen and get you back in the oil business. Looks like Iran's interested. They have good reason to be.

In fact, for the first time in decades, the nation is letting UN weapons inspectors actually inspect.

Could this all fall apart? You bet. Might it work, even though they're vicious scumbugs? Even your worst enemy will agree to something that's in its own interest.
