Better than polls perhaps are the betting markets that allow people to wager on who will win the election. PredictIt is one of the largest.
As you can see, once Biden dropped out the Dems had a masterful merchandising campaign to elevate their candidate's popularity. Ergo notice Kamala's rise starting mid-July. After much jockeying, going into the debate they were running neck and neck.

Then Trump famously melted down Tuesday night while Kamala showed herself to be a formidable orator and adversary. Donald's advancing age and toxicity finally caught up to him. Strangely Harris's betting odds began to ramp up about 24 hours BEFORE the Sept 10th debate. Apparently, the betting markets predicted the Dark Lord would fall flat.

Can Trump make up this spread? I doubt it. He started the job of turning off independent women voters by selecting Vance and finished it with his botched narrative on abortion rights at the debate. More importantly, he showed that he's "through" just like Biden. Another washed up angry guy who can't advocate for himself any longer or the American people.
Is Harris any better? In many ways yes. She's articulate and can provide a seemingly uplifting narrative however, her policy choices are even worse than the Dark Lord's (which are also becoming pretty bad). Ergo, at the end of the day the odds of her being effective in office are about the same as Trump...miserable.
I need to quit being so negative.
