Snitz gets you ripped on Ozempic

In the 1960s approx. 11% of the US population was classified as obese. Today that number has ballooned to almost 45%. The CDC recently estimated a similar proportion should now be classified as pre-diabetic.

So it’s no surprise that the hottest new drugs on the planet are Ozempic and its sister Wegovy. Both are made by Novo Nordisk a Danish firm that’s recently exploded to become the most valuable company (by market cap) in the EU.

Meanwhile, back in the states, people can’t get access to this magic elixir as the demand exceeds supply even though the price can exceed $20,000 per year. Most polls show that between 45 & 50% of the American population is interested in trying these drugs, which incidentally require you to use them permanently or “put back” the weight. The American Academy of Pediatrics has approved the drug for use with kids and our own Gov Fatzo is trying to have the gov pay for its use among Medicaid patients.

Yep, this stuff is awesome….full speed ahead.

Oh, BTW you know how many European nations have approved these drugs for treating weight loss? Zero? Yup. Strange isn’t it? Even in Novo Nordisk’s home country (the Netherlands) it’s illegal to use the stuff for such. Does that strike you as odd, while our politicians at home are lining up to make the stuff “free to the public”?

Fortunately, these drugs have few side effects, except of course for gastrointestinal distress (& other goodies) which causes 65% of patients to stop taking this stuff between 3-4 months after starting.

Somehow, 60 years ago, before people started binging on sugar and processed foods, Americans didn’t need to mortgage their future to maintain a healthy weight. I guess our DNA has changed since then.

Better all of us to inject than modify our diet?
