Why fossil fuels aren't all bad and are likely here to stay for a while.

Good video. A few key takeaways and a thoughts of my own:

  • Electricity currently compromises about 1/5th of the global energy use. Ergo, wind/solar aren't going to magically change the picture.

  • China and India generate more pollution than the US. Their use of energy is growing very fast as ours begins to get smaller each year. Ergo, unless they go away, they're going to stay the Elephant in the room. They'll determine how things go.

  • That said, our using more nuclear and developing better battery tech can help!

  • The best way to get off fossil fuel is for a scientist to develop other technologies and ways to create energy. That may sound implausible, but so did an iPhone a few decades ago.
