What AI model do the betting prediction markets think best?
I use several models. For producing charts from data I prefer ClaudeAI. For quickly doing research Gemini and ChatGPT kick ass. I need to check out Grok. Prediction markets: Google to win 2026 AI race The Deep View, Dec 26, 2025 During 2025, we saw an explosion in hype surrounding prediction markets, which are platforms for placing wagers on future events like elections, sports games, or how much it’s going to snow in Chicago next month. The shifting odds on AI-focused pred

Tacoma, Wash an example of RE death?
There is no surer way to abruptly stop the flow of new housing than to impose rent control or moratoriums on eviction. Government policy is full of well-meaning idiots who aren't aware of the unintended consequences of their ill-conceived actions. No Evictions, Less Affordable Housing That’s what happened in Tacoma, and even public housing is suffering. By The Editorial Board, WSJ Dec. 25, 2025 2:14 pm ET Voters in Tacoma, Wash., sought to help renters a few years go by passi

Jimmy Kimmel says ‘tyranny is booming’ as he renews attacks on Trump in UK Christmas address
I have no problem with anyone calling out Voldemort. That is with specifics. Kimmel's greatest contribution was to claim that Kirk was killed by a MAGA supporter, which was insulting to Kirk's widow and factually untrue. Then, after he learned the facts, he doubled down on the falsehood. All that does was to destroy Kimmel's credibility. He's also putting his parent Disney in the Dark Lord's crosshairs, having already been stung with a massive judgment for the George Step

Are kids more or less satisfied with themselves now?
I decided this year to give myself an especially high self approval rating. I earned it. Reason 987675 not to give your child a smartphone for as long as possible (at least until high school). By Jonathan Haidt, NYU Dec 25, 2025 And when you give them a smartphone, wait until at least 16 for social media apps, though parental controls are hard to work with and kids find workarounds if they really want to be on social media. This is why communication is so important, as well

Zeihan: Venezuela's regime is going to change. Quickly.
My guess. Voldemorts works out a deal with the military of Venezuela and supports a new gov in return they ship oil to our refineries. We have a ton of excess refining capacity. These plants were built for heavy crude, which is the opposite of what's being produced by fracking in the US. So we're in a great position to make money from heavy Venezuelan crude. Zeihan thinks there's going to be complete chaos over there. I'm not sure of that.

Passenger explodes. Can't cram two cats under her airline seat!
The video of Alex losing her sheet was garnered 222 million likes on TikTok. Not a joke. This really captures the spirit of the holidays. I call on all Spritzler readers to boycott Southwest Airlines. Unless you own less than two cats. Update! It's been brought to my attention that Alaskan Airlines was the offender, not Southwest. Please extend the ban to include Alaskan Airlines. Southwest? Until they agreed to "pay" the ban remains. Passenger explodes at Alaska Airlin

You think AI is going nowhere?
I'm a huge fan of stand up comedy. Norm and Dave are two of my all time favs. I asked Claude Ai to compare their work. This came out 10 seconds later. AI is in its infancy. Consider what these platforms will have the capacity to accomplish five years hence. Both Norm Macdonald and Dave Chappelle are considered comedic geniuses, but they work in distinctly different styles: Norm Macdonald's approach: Subversive anti-comedy: Norm often deliberately sabotaged traditional jok

Economist shits on Xmas gift giving?
Instead of buying something I want, I prefer to hope that someone else purchases such on my behalf by either guessing properly or my whispering in my ear. I wonder if Muslims and Hindus celebrate during the holidays. Sorry, I mean "our" holidays. A Perfect Christmas Is Suboptimal Gift giving is inefficient from an economic point of view. Is there a Trump rebound?
At the end of the day if he ramps up the economy people will be better off and all his sins will be forgiven. If not...he'll properly be vilified. By James Freeman, WSJ Dec. 23, 2025 11:25 am ET This column noted last month that the economy appears to be cooking. In the US, only about 4% identify as atheists. But that doesn't include the agnostics (another 5%) or folks who describe their religion as "nothing in particular" (an additional 19%). I bet they all celebrate Christmas...I know...disgusting.
