How bad did Covid mess up kids reading and math scores?
From the WSJ this morning below. Decided to do a little research with ClaudeAi. It's pretty clear the pandemic and the decision to have kids stay isolated had a critical impact on learning. My take: A number of private schools made arrangements for children to quickly return to class, reducing the impact. A smart move since COVID for the most part had almost a zero mortality rate for kids. Sadly the impact of isolating these kids will be felt for year. Stupid. Last winte

Which countries have the largest percentage of immigrants?
One important factoid. Much of Europe (especially Germany and France) has seen their immigrant population skyrocket. These new transplants are largely refugees from the Syrian War that haven't not integrated well with the locals. On the other hand, Iceland's new friends come largely from Ukraine and Lithuania. Ergo easy to assimilate.

Trump Administration Live Updates: President Heaps Praise on Mamdani and New York’s Future
It's official! Dogs are marrying cats. I fully expect New York's new mayor to do the same exceptional job that Chicago's mayor is doing. What Voldemort thinking? I can't process that right now. Has "clean energy" run out of gas?
You like that headline? All me baby. I still can bring on the literary heat! Except for EV cars which are kind of a joke*, the whole clean energy space is going nowhere. *Hey I'm sorry. That was insensitive of me. You probably own a Tesla and some high school kids egged your car. Your a little anxious. Clean energy investment hit a new record last quarter, mostly driven by EVs Chart R The expiry of electric vehicle tax credits didn’t just do wonders for the sales figures

Miss Mexico in brutal fight with Ms Universe CEO ends up winning!
What the f-ck. What in the wide world of sports is going on here. Last time I checked, we're not electing a social activist! We're objectifying women by rating how they look in a bikini. Does tradition mean nothing! And don't get me started on Mexico. Their fourth f-cking win. This is so rigged. Ms Thailand deserved the award. Seriously, she crushed it. 25 Movies, Many Stars, 0 Hits: Hollywood Falls to New Lows
Here's my take on things. During the golden age of films (1940s & 1950s) there were approx 800 films made per year. This year almost 700,000 films have been produced worldwide. The critical issue driving movies is and has always been good screenplays. There are a finite number of outstanding writers. Are there more today than in the 1940s? Perhaps, may be a factor of 2 (as our population has grown). Enough talent to create tight engaging stories when the number of films has

Katie Couric claims new owners of CBS, Bari Weiss are ‘compromising independent journalism’
Yup, all the legacy media outlets (except Fox which is equally leaning right) were giving their anchors free reign before Weiss showed up. No slant on the news. Kimmel unloads on Voldemort again
My take: There's nothing wrong with a comedian poking fun or criticizing the Commander and Chief. Unless the joke doesn't land or the comment is an outright lie. Kirk's killer wasn't a MAGA member. Kimmel knew that refused to correct his remarks. Very lame. Whether you like Kirk or not, insulting his family after a shooting not cool.
