Essentially, women resolve to do more than men in every category (especially losing weight) than men. One exception: men appear more interested in exercising more. We have no ambition. Pathetic.

Myself. I resolve to promote world peace.

New Year’s Resolutions for Men and Women

By Nathan Yau, Flowing Data

As is customary for the New Year, we set resolutions that we will definitely accomplish before the next year arrives. Here is what we are aiming for in 2026.

This is based on results from a YouGov survey. There was a list of resolutions to select from, and respondents could select all that applied.

Overall, the answers are similar between men and women, but women emphasized happiness, eating healthy, losing weight, and paying down debt more than men did.

One interesting wrinkle not shown above: the splits by age group suggest fewer resolutions as we get older. While 66% of 18- to 29-year-olds set a resolution, only 28% of those 65 and older set one. Is the older age group recognizing futility or did they already achieve their goals?
