Is Hegseth a bad Secretary of Defense?

From the skewering he's received in the mainstream press you'd certainly think so. VDH explains the opposite is likely true.

Hegseth has accomplished two important milestones:

  • For the first time the armed forces have met their recruiting goals. This was a disaster during Biden. Nobody wanted to join the military. How he fixed this is fascinating and required some good old common sense.

  • For years, the military did most of it's weapons procurement with large suppliers, like McDonald Douglas, purchasing massive weapons systems with billion dollar price tags. That's changing. We're becoming a more intelligent purchaser and buying better more cost effective weapons systems.

Do I agree with everything he's doing or our ramp up in military spending? No! But compared to the village idiots that preceeding him I think he may be a breath of fresh air.
