A Spritzler Special Investigation. Think of me as a modern day Mike Wallace.
Here's what a month's supply of the stuff costs elsewhere and the US:
Monthly Cost Comparison (List Prices)
United States: $936-969
By far the highest globally
5-10x more expensive than most other countries
Japan: $169
Second highest after the U.S.
Still 82% cheaper than U.S. prices
Mid-Range Countries:
Canada: $155
Denmark: $122
Netherlands: $203 (for Rybelsus formulation)
Germany: $59-103
Lowest Cost Countries:
France: $71-83
United Kingdom: $87-93
Australia: $87
Sweden: $96
Why are we so lucky?
Unlike other countries the US Gov doesn't negotiate prices with manufacturers.
Instead most Americans rely on the pharmacy benefit managers who routinely do a lousy job and take a piece of the action for themselves.
Are nation is inhabited by fat f-cks, so there's tremendous demand.
What does it cost to produce Ozempic? Since the R&D cost has long ago been paid for the marginal cost to produce a month's supply of this crap is between $1 and $5 per month (according to JAMA).
