‘Just get out,’ And let Iran charge terror tolls?

If it were up to me, we'd leave immediately and allow Iran to randsom the world's supply of oil to fund terrorism and a stockpile of nuclear weapons. I say that because I've lost my f-cking mind.

The Democratic Hormuz Alternative

‘Just get out,’ Troy Jackson says. And let Iran charge terror tolls?

Take Hormuz—please! With apologies to Henny Youngman, that appears to be an emerging Democratic message on Iran. In a TV debate Tuesday night, Iowa’s Senate candidate Josh Turek was asked about letting Iran control the strait. What does Mr. Turek consider an acceptable ending to the war? “As soon as possible,” he replied. Twice he said “immediately.”

Meantime in Maine, Democrat Troy Jackson in a Tuesday debate suggested defunding military action against Iran, despite U.S. troops still in the war zone. Incumbent Sen. Susan Collins is the GOP’s appropriations chair. “If she wants to stop the funding for it, she has the ability to stop the funding,” Mr. Jackson said. His advice to President Trump? “You’re just going to have to own this one, because there is no way to resolve this. Let’s just get out.”

Both parties have heard the public dissatisfaction with Mr. Trump’s erratic conduct of the war, which is why many Republicans are also criticizing it. But Iran is still firing on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, because it wants to turn the international waterway into a toll route to earn billions of dollars for its terror empire. Mr. Turek is OK with that? And Mr. Jackson would cut off the money to prevent it?

“I don’t want to leave our troops unprotected,” Ms. Collins responded. “I think that would be totally irresponsible. I do want to make sure that they are safe. They are in countries all around Iran.” Besides firing on nearby ships, the messianic regime in Tehran has also shot at the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Israel.

John Sununu, New Hampshire’s GOP Senate nominee, made a similar point in a Tuesday debate against Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas. “It was a mistake to go into Iran without a plan to keep the Strait of Hormuz open,” Mr. Sununu said. Yet he added: “I don’t think it would be wise right now to cut off funding for those vessels and aircraft carriers that are helping to move cargo and oil through the strait and keep commerce flowing.”

High oil prices are creating real hardship for voters. But the alternative offered by Messrs. Turek and Jackson is defeat and conceding control to Iran, while giving China the impression that international waters are negotiable based on the U.S. political calendar. That result would be worse for American interests.
