The Socialist Democrats of America? Doing harm to Voldmort?

Is the wave of far left leaning leaders in the Dem party a gift for Voldemort? Many Dems fear that's the case. In fact they have actually accused the Dark Lord of funding these socialist crackpots (see below).
Just as the party's efforts to discredit Trump boosted his print, the new left are doing the same.
On June 20, 2026, new FEC filings confirmed national Democrats' suspicions that Lead Left PAC, Real Change PAC and Blue California PAC were purposefully boosting candidates perceived as weaker contenders in a general election in hopes of engineering more favorable matchups for Republicans. The filings showed these progressive-sounding "pop-up" PACs were funded by Conservative Americans PAC, which in turn is bankrolled by the American Prosperity Alliance — a Republican-aligned nonprofit linked to former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. CNNInternational Business Times
The groups spent roughly $4.3 million across Democratic primaries in Texas, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, New Jersey, and Maine. The most striking case was Texas-35, where Lead Left PAC spent more than $750,000 on advertisements ... boosting Maureen Galindo, a sex therapist and housing advocate whose use of antisemitic tropes in criticizing Israel drew national attention and widespread condemnation. The Republican PAC didn't even deny it. Their spokesperson said "Republicans are leveling the playing field after over a decade of Democrats meddling in our primaries, and with the Democrat Party in the midst of a civil war, Republicans would be stupid not to take advantage while pushing their candidates farther left." CNN
The accusing voices were the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (the House Dems' campaign arm — not the DNC itself), Rep. Greg Casar (D-Texas), and Rep. Jamie Raskin, among others. Notably, the trail leads to a McCarthy-linked nonprofit rather than to Trump personally — and Trump himself has been publicly calling these progressive winners "communists," which cuts against the idea that he's quietly bankrolling them. But the broader thrust of what you remembered — Democrats accusing Republicans of secretly funding far-left candidates to weaken the Democratic ticket — is accurate. CNN
The Socialist Democrats of America
What the rise of the Mamdani left means for the Democratic Party and the U.S.

It’s tempting to dismiss Tuesday’s primary sweep by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) as an artifact of weird New York City. It is that, but also more. The victories by Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s slate of leftists will change the Democratic Party—and perhaps the politics of the country.
The three socialist candidates for Congress endorsed by Mr. Mamdani defeated “establishment” Democrats, including two current House incumbents. Add the races for the New York Legislature, and seven of eight candidates affiliated with the DSA won on Tuesday. This was a rout for the far left over the left.
It’s true voter turnout was low, as it often is in primaries. In the open-seat race for New York’s 7th Congressional district, for example, leftist Claire Valdez won with a mere 37,531 votes as of Wednesday’s counting. That’s only 7.6% of the district’s nearly 500,000 registered voters. But her opponent, Brooklyn borough president Antonio Reynoso, had the support of the district’s retiring Congresswoman and the party establishment.
This shows the DSA is highly organized and can get out the vote of the young progressives who have replaced the white centrist voters who have fled New York.
It’s hard to overstate how far to the left the Mamdani slate is. Aber Kawas, who won the primary for a state Senate seat, has said she found it “reprehensible” to apologize for 9/11 when America hasn’t apologized for its “system of capitalism, and racism and white supremacy.” We guess she won’t be going to the 25th anniversary ceremony at Ground Zero.
Darializa Avila Chevalier, who ousted Rep. Adriano Espaillat, was a leader of the anti-Israel protests at Columbia University after the 2023 Hamas massacre. She was for Hamas. She has called for abolishing police, prisons and borders. She called Joe Biden a “rapist” and “war criminal” and says the U.S. is “occupied” Native American land and called the country a “f— disgrace.” She favors seizing private property.
How could she and the rest of the Mamdani slate win? One reason is that Democrats have run America’s biggest cities for decades, yet haven’t solved the problems of unsafe streets, lack of affordable apartments and failing public transit. Rep. Dan Goldman’s main campaign theme was that he impeached Donald Trump. He lost too. As the patent medicine of the left fails, and Republicans aren’t competitive politically in New York City, the voters turn further left.
Another reason for the socialist rise is that mainstream liberals put up so little resistance. Like other Democrats, Mr. Espaillat shares the socialist left’s goals but wants to get there more gradually. This is a feeble answer when angry voters want immediate progress. The defeated Democrats in New York refused to make principled arguments against socialism or the antisemitism of the Mamdani left.
After Tuesday they may offer even less resistance. They will face more socialist challengers across the country, and history says they will try to survive by accommodating the left’s ideas. Medicare for All, higher income taxes and a wealth tax and abolishing ICE are going to be on the Democratic agenda—if not in swing districts in 2026, then in the Democratic presidential primary race in 2028.
The DSA is a growing force and has already captured the mayor’s office in Washington, D.C., New York and maybe soon Los Angeles. Bernie Sanders is closer to achieving his dream of capturing the Democratic Party for the left through a younger generation.
One certain loser from all this will be support for Israel. The Mamdani slate is called the “Hamas slate” for good reason. It will be hard for any Democratic candidate for President to be even as supportive of Israel as Mr. Biden was. Expect the left to try to make cutting off arms sales to Israel a party litmus test.
Republicans may gloat about this far-left Democratic turn, but that is a mistake. Perhaps it will help them keep some House seats this year. But it bodes ill for democracy when the party of the center-left swings even harder left. And many Trump Republicans are also dabbling with socialist ideas.
The socialist vision of class conflict and everything-for-everybody economics has ruined many countries. Sooner or later socialism crashes into reality, but it can do plenty of damage before it does.
