Suspect this will end like Venezuela did. Some existing folks choosing to make money versus get the sheet bombed out of them. Hope I right about this. Voldemort ditto.

US intelligence says Iran government is not at risk of collapse

Despite the death of Supreme Leader Khamenei and dozens of officials, U.S. intelligence confirms Iran's regime remains intact and retains control over its population.

  • U.S. intelligence assessed Iran's leadership remains largely intact and not at risk of collapse after nearly two weeks of U.S. and Israeli strikes, citing consistent analysis that the regime retains control of the Iranian public.

  • The campaign began on February 28, 2026, when strikes killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, targeting air defences, nuclear sites and senior leaders during sustained U.S. and Israeli military operations.

  • Strikes have killed dozens of senior officials and commanders, and the Assembly of Experts earlier this week declared Mojtaba Khamenei the new supreme leader while the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps controls much of Iran's economy.

  • Sources say the situation remains fluid, and Iranian Kurdish groups have asked the U.S. for weapons despite U.S. intelligence doubting their firepower; President Donald Trump has suggested ending the operation 'soon' but has not ruled out ground troops.

  • Diplomatic moves include Emmanuel Macron, President of France, recently speaking with Iran's president, while senior Israeli officials privately acknowledged there is no certainty the campaign will cause collapse amid rising oil costs.
