They're about the same, however, with the new federal tax credits and Tesla price drop, the Tesla looks a little cheaper. After 5 years Teslas get progressively cheaper as the cost savings (electric vs gas) become increasingly helpful.
A few dets that impact the equation:
EV cars don't depreciate or develop the need for costly repairs like gas-powered vehicles. In theory, EV cars may have some battery degradation, but my friends who own 6+ year old Teslas report having 98% battery capacity. They don't experience engine issues, or transmissions going "out". blah blah blah.
Insurance: Tesla is now offering auto insurance at rates that are often 40% lower than the normal players that service gas powder options.
Tesla's receive regular computer performance upgrades to improve the car. Not so with gas vehicles.
Is a Camry a reasonable substitute for a Tesla Model 3 or perhaps something nicer like an Audi or BMW? Your call?
