Everybody expected tariff wars to trigger a recession?
First of all, I told you so. You didn't listen. Second, I do like saying this! I have no humility. At all! Not quite so tarrifying? Chart R For the US economy in 2025, perhaps no moment stands more memorable than Donald Trump unveiling his big board of tariffs on April 2. Although the “Liberation Day” announcement might have come the day after April Fools, the levies slapped on America’s largest trading partners — as well as some of its smallest — were no joke. They upende

YouTube kicking ass! Late night TV?
YouTube part of the Google fine family of Death Star members. You are what you watch Chart R Should the $83 billion deal course its way through the Paramount- and regulator-shaped obstacles it now faces, the Netflix-Warner Bros. takeover could completely overhaul our media landscape. For now, though, we’re all doing a fine job of upending things on our own, as traditional formats struggle and social media blurs the lines between video and TV. According to Nielsen, YouTube, th

Are the Dems anti AI? What do our tech titans think of that?
The progressives movement, the current face of the Democratic Party is aligned with Bernie, particularly AOC. Wonder why at Trump’s inauguration, Tesla (Elon Musk), Meta (Mark Zuckerberg), Amazon (Jeff Bezos), Google/Alphabet (Sundar Pichai), and Apple (Tim Cook) were all seated prominently in the second row behind the First Family? Because their economic future along with Nvidia relies on AI, fossil fuel to power a vast array of new data center assets. Think these folks ar

Trump should replace Obamacare with personal accounts
This is obviously a complex issue. A few things that seem to make sense (at least to me) Having health care that can travel from job to job. Changing our tax code so you can deduct medical expenses without having to itemize or worry about the AGI threshold would be an important step in that direction. Get rid of PBM managers and find a better was to provide Americans drugs at pricing commensurate with other nations. Provide incentives to engage in preventitive self care. Er

Trump signs executive order that could reclassify marijuana as a less dangerous drug
Let Snitz mansplain this. Changing the classification of marijuana radically changes the business model for legal producers and sellers. Why? Because they will be able to expense operating expenditures...not the case today. Section 280E Relief IRS Code 280E currently prevents businesses selling Schedule I or II substances from deducting standard operating expenses like rent, payroll, advertising, and utilities . Once marijuana moves to Schedule III, this restriction no lon

The UK publication can't be faulted for getting their facts wrong. While the Dark Lord is a flaming asshole and says vile/untruthful crap (faster than you can process) his record isn't terrible. I discount the DOGE and ICE offensive behavior....eckkkk. After months of people going nuts about his tariff negotiations, inflation clocked in today at 2.6%. Shocker his plans might work. Is Hegseth a bad Secretary of Defense?
From the skewering he's received in the mainstream press you'd certainly think so. VDH explains the opposite is likely true. Hegseth has accomplished two important milestones: For the first time the armed forces have met their recruiting goals. This was a disaster during Biden. Nobody wanted to join the military. How he fixed this is fascinating and required some good old common sense. For years, the military did most of it's weapons procurement with large suppliers, like

Do more people belong to unions in Chicago than elsewhere?
I did a little research. The folks who mostly belong to unions in Chicago are lead by either the Chicago Teachers Union (not a friend of children...total scum) or government agencies. So these folks get to make more money than their private sector equivalents in return for drumming up votes for the Chicago Political Machine. Sorry. That sounded a little cynical (& of course accurate). Largest Union Employers in Chicago (Ranked by Number of Workers) 1. Chicago Public Schoo
