Was Maduro’s capture the greatest special forces raid in history?
Contrast this to Biden's botch exit from Afghanistan! Was Maduro’s capture the greatest special forces raid in history? By Gavin Mortimer, The Spectator 5 January 2026 On this occasion no one can accuse Donald Trump of hyperbole. The American president praised the Delta Force team that seized Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro as ‘incredible’. The operation to capture Maduro – codenamed ‘Absolute Resolve’ – was months in the planning, and Trump watched it unfold in real time. ‘

Is the evolution of avalanche mitigation in Utah good?
For decades Alta used military artillery to blast for avalanches. Then the US gov decided that was too dangerous. What a bunch of pussies. The resort recently was forced to install 14 Wyssen towers instead which remotely deploy explosives. Each of these towers is estimated to cost approx $430,000 including installation using helicopters. So that's $6 million up in smoke. Of course these towers need to be regularly filled with explosives. That's not cheap! I'm not happy!

What's been the fastest growing economy in Europe since 1990?
Bernie, Mamdani, Progressives and many in Gen Z believe our nation should adopt some sort of socialist model. Several EU nations have experimented with this with pretty dismal results. Poland has moved in the opposite direction. I fired up a chart (ClaudeAi) to illustrate. Poland’s economic transformation began with the fall of communism in 1989, moving from a centrally planned system to a dynamic market economy. Structural reforms, privatization, and integration into globa

Can the ‘Donroe doctrine’ really change Venezuela?
Our objective isn't to "change" Venezuela. It's too scare the crap out of them so we can buy/extract and refine their oil. Plus stop the flow of drugs. Can we do that? I wouldn't be against it. This isn't Iraq and Voldemort isn't Bush. PS. Another Venezuelan economist explains the Narco state. And why the US has strategic reasons other than oil to stop Maduro (also his dealing w Russia, China and Iran which also involves supporting terrorist actors). Can the ‘Donroe doctrin

Has South Korea's GDP exceeded Japan's?
Japan still has a larger economy ($4 trillion GDP vs Korea's $1.71 trillion). However South Korea spends more in R&D.
